Baptists Plan Statewide Fund Drive Next Sunday

Judge Chapman Sworn In as District Judge for New 104th District
Judge Walter R. Chapman of Stamford was sworn in to lead the new 104th district comprising Jones, Fisher and Taylor counties. Governor Dan Moody signed the creating bill and appointed Chapman, with Clem Calhoun of Hamlin named district attorney for the 39th district. The court will begin its first term in Keby, expanding Jones county court weeks to twenty annually.

Rule Citizen Fatally Shot on Main Street
J. A. Lisles prominent Rule citizen died from a bullet wound inflicted Saturday night on Rule's main street. H. F. Pawers was arrested after a revival meeting and, at a Monday preliminary, denied bond. Lisles, a gin manager, was well known to Stamford cotton and gun men. his funeral arrangements were set by Barrow Furniture and his survivors include his wife and four children.
