Police Chief B Q Cooper announced that from February 26 enforcement will rise against double parking in Stamford. The city marks spaces and a new ordinance requires cars to park within lines with tickets issued to violators. The Chamber of Commerce backs efforts to improve parking and a two hour limit in some areas is under study.

Mrs Massey Found Dead at Stamford Home
Mrs Hugh Massey, about 77, longtime Stamford resident, was found dead Wednesday morning by her son Marvin. She had not been ill. Funeral arrangements pending, likely at St. John’s Methodist. Kinney Funeral Home in charge. Survivors include six sons Marvin Richard Cecil Jack Harold Grant and four daughters Mary Meeks Betty Fields Clydie Taylor and others. 23 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Mr Massey, Katy Railroad employee, died years ago. The couple moved to Stamford about 50 years ago.

Mrs J B Burney Sr 83 died Wednesday morning at Stamford Memorial Hospital after a monthlong illness. She was a Trinity Baptist Church member with services pending Friday. Burial will be in Funston Cemetery under Kinney Funeral Home. Born Leon County February 2 1885 she married Mr Burney in 1909. They moved to Jones County in 1926 living in New Hope Community. Survived by four daughters Louise Herman Zula Baize Eula Lee Ellis Dorothy Auerbach Kerens two sons J B Burney Jr Stacy Burney twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
