Poll Taxes Rise in Jones County as Election Preparations Continue
Poll tax payments in Jones County exceed last year totals but remain well below the 1960 general election level. Hansen named Outstanding Young Farmer in Shackelford County
Kenneth Hansen of Shackelford County north of Leeders was chosen Outstanding Young Farmer by Stamford Jaycees at a Friday banquet at Cliff House. Hansen, 29, operates a 600 acre farm, raises cotton wheat maize poultry and cattle, and uses modern farming methods. He received a plaque from 1959 honoree Bill Pritchard and will compete for the statewide title in Greenville Saturday with his wife Yvonne and guests.
