Stamford ISD to begin first Texas Assessment of Basic Skills
Fifth and ninth graders across Stamford ISD will participate in the TBKS testing Feb 26 28 as part of the first annual state plan. Reading writing and math tests will occur statewide Feb 25 March 12 with results shared publicly at a Mayor June board meeting and individually with students and guardians. Ninth graders may retake annually with no more than one attempt per year.

St. John's United Methodist Church announces a three day Mission Saturation Weekend February 24 to 26. Stamford Young Farmers will take a field trip to the USDA cotton classing office in Abilene next week. They depart at 1 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 19 from the parking lot east of St John’s United Methodist Church, just south across from Rolling Plains Production Credit Association. The tour starts at 2 p.m. for those driving separately to Abilene.

50th TCR Planned for Stamford July 2–5
Dates set for the 1980 Texas Cowboy Reunion the 50th edition of the Western celebration in Stamford. The association reserved July 2 3 4 and 5 for four evening rodeo performances climaxing on a Saturday night. Normally three night shows and a matinee. Two years ago a four night run was tested.
