Stamford aligns civic groups for a new Agricultural Council formed within the Chamber of Commerce to craft an agricultural development program for rural Stamford. The council includes fourteen farmers and five business professionals and plans semi monthly meetings to tackle markets for dairy and poultry products. The next session is February 25 at the Chamber office.

Post Wins Rural School Pennant In Haskell County
Post, a rural school north of Stamford, won the Haskell County rural championship after playoffs. O'Brien clinched the county title by defeating Rule in the finals. Post beat Lone Star 15 to 12 and Tanner Paint 20 to 7 before Saturday’s 35 to 8 win over Center Point. Post forfeited to Rule due to excessive games scheduled. This marks Post’s first rural crown in several years.

Putnam Seeks Re-Election For Tax Assessor

He was elected two years ago after a whirlwind county wide campaign and is described as running a successful administration though in Stamford he was relatively unknown prior. The Stamford Firemen's Band will be financed in 1930 through the Stamford Chamber of Commerce. John T. Wallace announced the board approved funding of 50 dollars a month from the chamber treasury. E G Ivy Dies After Prolonged Illness Funeral Rites Held
E G Ivy died February 6 after a months long illness. Funeral service was conducted February 7 at the Church of Christ with D O Griffith and Jim Harvey officiating. Burial followed in Funston cemetery. Survivors include four daughters, two stepdaughters, four brothers, three sisters, and other relatives. Ivy lived in West Texas for thirty years and worked in Wichita Valley salted equipment. A line notes 21 cables across the Atlantic.

January Term Of District Court Closes At Anson

Peacock Man Loses Leg After Auto Crash Near Aspermont
W. T. Lee, a Peacock area farmer, crashed on the Peacock Aspermont highway at noon Wednesday. His car overturned just west of Aspermont and he lost his left leg below the knee after medical care at Stamford Sanitarium. Lee said he fainted while driving at high speed. He is reported resting well.

Funeral for A Beck Held Today in Swedish Lutheran Church
Funeral services for A Beck who died Tuesday morning were conducted Friday afternoon at Erieksdahl Church with Rev Hugo B Haterius officiating. Born in Sweden November 8 1849 he was over 80. He moved to Texas in 1908 settling in Bricksdahl. Surviving are two sons and four daughters including Oscar Beck and Mrs Ed Armstrong in Berryhill area north of Lueders Theodore Beck in Portland Oregon another son in California two daughters in California.

Vernon D. Hart Post commander C. D. McDaniel and adjutant M. B. Harris accompanied ex service man Frank Ransome to the Veterans Hospital near Kerrville Texas after a worsening condition. Ransome had recent hospital stays in New Mexico and Arkansas and was placed in the tubercular ward after a long drive. Officials reported he withstood the trip well and received courteous care from hospital staff.
