County Basketball Tournament Set for Stamford
The Jones county Interscholastic League hosts a two day event at the Stamford high school gym on February 15 and 16 with teams Hamlin Neidna Stith New Hope Swans Chapel Hawley Oak Grove and Stamford. Nevada the defending champion faces strong competition as games begin at 2 30 pm and 7 pm. A and P to Open Stamford Store in Larche Building
The Great Atlantic and Pied Tea Company will open an Stamford store about April 1 after leasing the east side of the square from L F Larche. Larche plans three brick buildings on South Ferguson street with two 15 by 60 foot stores and the Larche Grocery Company occupying one. Construction starts once materials arrive. Anson February 14 The county commissioners sold road bonds totaling 461000 to Brown Cramer Company of Wichita after bids by 15 bidders. Five percent bonds from district No 10 sold at par with premium 262 while 500000 worth of series BE bonds sold at par with premium 194. The court said it had a good day and noted readiness to begin highway construction once routes and right of way are secured.
