McClurkan Murder Shocks Stamford Area

McClurkan, 55, a Stamford area farmer, was killed at his home Wednesday evening near Califo. Finis Goree, son-in-law of the Clurkans, was arrested by Sheriff Tom Hudson in Anson and charged with the murder. The Goree family has long ties in the community as neighbors and friends. Mrs Morris, formerly of Stamford, died in Roswell New Mexico after heart trouble, with funeral held at St. John's church.

The Woman's Auxiliary of St John Church met at the Semi Bentley church for a Monday afternoon study on Advent. Mrs Reesett opened the program with devotional leading the second in a series. Mesdames Wallace Doak and McLaughlin gave talks. The group elected officers and planned lunch for the next District Centenary meeting. Members praised a talk by Mrs Georg Hardin on the Centenary, welcomed new member M L Doak, and noted New Year Books for 1925 themed on world sisterhood and service.

Mrs R B Berryhill died at her Bomar Heights home this city Monday evening at 7 o'clock from an abscess on the brain. She was 23 years old and leaves a young husband and many friends who extend sympathy.
