Council accepted bids totaling 449760.90 for a new sewer plant. Decker Construction submitted 282598 for plant construction and Panhandle Construction 167162.90 for laying pipes with completion in 210 days. Onyx Construction led the high bids at 423533. Funds come from federal grants and a 255000 revenue bond. Plant sits north of College Lake with extensions to Westwind Circle Columbia Street and North Swenson.

American expands press capacity with new unit
The Stamford American added a four page unit to its Cottrell offset press enabling 12 pages at once and more color. Since adopting offset printing in 1970 the plant has installed its own press camera and plate making gear and added two electronic typesetters the Compugraphic 7200 and Compu writer. Avona Man Suffers Mangled Leg In Mill Accident
