Veteran Educator May Quit Stamford School Post
W. L. Johnson, longtime Stamford superintendent, indicated he may resign. The board offered a one year extension, Johnson said he would decide soon. He is finishing his 32nd year as superintendent and his 35th in the system, with two years as high school principal and one as acting superintendent. The board also rehired the coaching staff on one year contracts. Mr and Mrs Pascal Harris attended a Fort Worth music workshop last week.

Rev. Jack Southerland announced the First Baptist Church of Stamford received go ahead Wednesday night to build a new educational building at about 190000 dollars. Plans call for a two story semi fireproof structure on North Swenson replacing the Sledge home site with space for parlor offices library nursery and youth departments. The present building will be repurposed for adults and the fellowship hall expanded, with the old parsonage moved to the Mexican Parsonage site. surrounding lot will be blacktopped.
