Rain halts harvest as fields stay soft after winter weather
Farmers had collected a few hundred more bales of cotton earlier in the week but rain began Wednesday and continued through the day halting work. Some fields remained too wet to strip by Tuesday and the harvest awaits drier weather.

Stamford City Sells Two Small Land Tracts
The Stamford city council approved selling two adjacent land tracts along the Avoca to Lueders highway. One tract is 2.6 acres and the other 9.7 acres with a retained one acre on the second parcel. Sale price for both tracts was about 1610, as the city no longer uses the land and Humphrey owns adjoining property. Falling house injures man during demolition

WTU Secures 6 Percent Rate Hike for Stamford
West Texas Utilities Co. won a 6 per cent rate increase after a Friday city council meeting in Stamford.
