75 Applications For Federal Loans Filed In Stamford
Seventy five applications for federal crop loans were completed at the West Texas Chamber of Commerce building on Wednesday night. Applications are sent to the county committee as they are finished. Take in began Thursday afternoon last week. Average loan request per acre is about 1.50 and average total per farmer is about 183 dollars. The 75 applications total around 15750 dollars. The Stamford area may see about 400 farmers applying. a 50 cent handling fee covers office costs, with the Chamber pledging to cover any shortfall.

Edward Jean Hurt In Car Accident
Edward Jean an employee of the Gulf Service Station at Bad Hamilton and Ferguson streets was seriously injured in an automobile collision at the Orient Street and Highway 18 intersection Monday afternoon. He suffered a severe head wound but reported resting well and out of danger midweek. Jean was driving Dick Rowland's Ford Coupe on Orient Street and said his foot slipped from the brake causing the crash with CCM Francis on the highway. Jean was thrown from the car. Francis and Mrs Francis were uninjured.

Legion Delivers Turnip Aid to Needy Families
The American Legion delivered a turnip supply estimated at 16800 to 1800 pounds to Ray Rector of United Charities for distribution among needy families. Donated by W. T. Hilliard, the effort continues a winter campaign in which as many as 2000 pounds were collected before lasting about two weeks.

Infant dies of meningitis in Stamford
Frances F B Martin infant daughter of Mr and Mrs P W Martin of Stamford died in the Bramfield Hospital last Friday from meningitis. Physicians say the illness was not contagious spinal meningitis. funeral was at the Methodist church in Manley conducted by Rev Mr Lew. Survivors include parents and one brother. Sarah B McClintock, 70, dies at home. funeral held in Stamford with Kinney Brothers arranging. She survived by three sons and two daughters.
