Robbery Loots Sunnyside Home of Benson Family

Thieves looted the rural home of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Benson SW of Stamford in Sunnyside, taking clothing bedding furniture and curtain rods while leaving the cook stove and dining table. The Jan 23 night burglary pierced a window and suspects remain unfound.

Singing Monday Night At First Baptist Church

District Meeting Of Firestone Men Held In Stamford

Tire dealers and other business leaders from about a dozen towns attended a Firestone District meeting and banquet at the Stamford Inn. About 65 to 75 men participated, with PD F. Prewit and Tom Gaston organizing. Dallas Firestone officials Louie Randell Hudson and George Mitchell led the afternoon program starting at 3 30. A banquet followed at 6 50 with Judge C F E Coombes master of ceremonies and speeches by J R Pratt F M Locke W B Tayman and Judge Coombes. Sagerton Hosts Two Day Farm Short Course

Sagerton announces a two day farm short course in agriculture horticulture and home economics on February 22 and 23. The International Harvester extension staff will provide speakers and sessions run morning afternoon and night. The free program in the school auditorium will dismiss local students on education day with other schools invited. Execut ive chairman R H Robertson coordinates the event which is one of six West Texas towns chosen this year.

Babylon Picture Sermon Promises Vivid Views of Ancient City

The pastor at the Methodist church will present thirty views of Babylon, old and modern, on Sunday. He describes Babylon as a boastful ancient capital with a great wall and gates, famed religious rites, and wealth, set in a sermon illustrated by films from within the ruined city. Eight year old Edward Earl Rowntree dies after street accident

Edward Earl Rowntree Jr., eight, died at 6 50 pm after being struck by a truck in front of 309 North Swenson Avenue. Clifford Brow ton of Haskell drove the vehicle to the sanitarium where he succumbed to a fractured skull. The driver was not at fault. Pallbearers included Leslie Larehe and Albert Ivy. burial in Highland Cemetery. Bicentennial Observance Planned in Stamford for George Washington

Preparations underway for a public program in Stamford marking the 200th birthday of George Washington. The event at City Auditorium on Monday February 22 at 7:30 p m will be led by the American Legion with Rotary Club Muse Club Mechani Club and others taking a leading role. A tentative program was adopted but some speakers including the principal speaker remain to be confirmed as out of town. The program aligns with the national Washington Bicentennial Celebration.

A letter from C W Warburton director of extension work states that production loans under the Reconstruction Finance Act are not yet available as regulations are not complete. If loans are issued the procedure will mirror last year's government loans, Warburton says.
