Lewis Britton died Sunday evening from a heart attack at his Stamford home. Funeral was February 2 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Southerland officiating. Burial followed at Highland Memorial Cemetery. Survivors include his wife Virgie Johnson, two sons Billy and Johnny Britton, mother Arnette McCann, stepdaughter Barbara Davis, three stepsons James Alvin David W Kenneth B Davis, and sisters Charlene Barnett and Judy Patton.

Oliver Street Church Names New Minister
Paul Lakey is the new minister at the Oliver Street Church of Christ. A Kansas City native born in Albuquerque, he graduated summa cum laude from Oklahoma Christian College and pursued graduate work at Abilene Christian College. He has preached in several states and worked on Campaigns for Christ in Canada, Hawaii, and Pennsylvania, visiting Vienna and Czech mission fields last August. he began January 17 and lives at 614 A East Oliver Street.

Football King and Queen Crowned at Banquet

City Hires Ft Worth Firm for Stamford Sewer Study
The Fort Worth firm Freeze Nichols and Endress was chosen by Stamford City Council to study the sewer disposal plant and plan extensions. Four firms presented, with daily inspection stressed. City Plans Ramp Extension at Lake Stamford Park
City council approved extending the boat launching ramp at Lake Stamford Park. City workers will add seven feet to the ramp at an estimated cost of 1000 dollars, with reimbursement from the park board. The ramp was originally built by the Texas Highway Department and later turned to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Board.

Funeral for William Wiley Vaughan aged 60 was at Kinney Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. S. M. Dean officiating. Vaughan died Sunday at Stamford Memorial Hospital after a 10 day illness. Born June 4 1910 in Clinton, he moved to Lueders as a child from McKinney. Survived by sister Irene Knoble of Level land, brothers E. E. Vaughan of Lueders, F. C. Vaughan of Abilene, N. C. New JP Warns Drivers To Obey License Limits
Justice of the Peace Tom Nance reports a high number of citations for vision restriction violations on driver licenses. He notes many drivers wear lenses only for eye tests, creating unintended restrictions. Violations can lead to hearings and suspensions up to twelve months. Teen licenses often require an adult observer. Restrictions may be removed by retaking the eye test or optical certification.

Vehicle registration season opens at county offices
Registration renewal for motor vehicles started Feb 1 at county tax offices and designated sub stations and runs through February and March. Stamford residents may use the three part renewal form filed with Enis Bishop Fledric or at the County Court House basement to speed processing and receive 1971 license plates. Vehicles can also be registered at City Hall in Tuedors or Cunningham Insurance Agency in Hamlin or by mail before March 1 with the renewal form fee and $1 per vehicle.

State Consultant To Speak Here at Breakfast Meeting
E. H. Sheffield, development consultant for the Texas Industrial Commission, will speak at a February 4 breakfast at 7 a.m. at the Cliff House.
