County Court Docket Set To Clear 1962 Backlog
County Judge Leon Thurman said the county court will likely set February 15 to hear about 30 cases from a backlog that includes traffic offenses, bad checks, child desertion and early DUI. County Attorney Ben Niedecken has weeded out dismissible or incomplete records and noted many appeals from justice or corporation courts. Civil cases may be scheduled for March or April at lawyers' requests.

March of Dimes Campaign Nearing Successful End in Stamford
The 1965 Stamford drive has raised 1651.80 to date and is expected to reach about 1800. Major contributions came from the Mothers' March on January 21 and Reynolds and Oliver Street School PTA groups. Other funds came from business solicitation, Stamford High School talent show, Stamford Lanes bowling, and amounts from Washington Reynolds and Oliver Street schools. The Veterans of Foreign Wars post gave 100, and many small donations were recorded citywide. Mrs. Watson thanked workers and contributors for their dedication.

High School Credit and Collection Course Opens Monday
A four night ten hour credit and collection course will begin Monday night February 8 at 7 30 p m in Room 12 of Stamford High School. Wayne Holcomb University of Texas retail training specialist leads the sessions sponsored by Stamford Distribution Education Chapter and is part of the Distribution Education Program. Don Howard DE administrator said about 25 owners managers and staff are expected across four classes. The course offers advanced and refresher training for large and small businesses and firms addressing interviewing investigating accepting or ejecting customers seeking credit increasing credit volume controlling accounts and reducing collection problems with a four dollar registration fee.

Higher Stamford tax collections reflect New Construction
City Manager Harry Steenson reported Stamford tax collections for the year 1964 were stronger than usual with a higher collection rate. Valuations rose from 10,267,000 in 1963 to 10,514,290 in 1964 due to new construction and Carhartt of Texas, with the deadline for paying without penalties or interest past Saturday.

Funeral services for Arthur N. Goyne 81 of Lueders were held at the First Baptist Church of Lueders with Rev. Lewis Markwood officiating. Burial followed in Lueders Cemetery under Lawrence Funeral Home Anson directing. He died at Stamford Memorial Hospital after a months long illness. He was born October 14 1883 and married Mamie Philley in 1913. after her death he wed Katie Box. He is survived by his wife three sons a daughter a brother seven sisters and 17 grandchildren.
