The Stamford Youth Center fund drive is set to begin Wednesday February 9 with a projected annual budget of 2325.72 dollars excluding improvements. Estimated to raise about 2800 dollars to cover additional items including furniture and equipment repairs. The drive follows a Tuesday night executive committee meeting at the Chamber of Commerce with Byron Lewis as president and Lee Walker as secretary.

Death Comes Saturday to Aged Recluse in Tent Home
Joseph D. Kent an English native aged 86 who lived on Stamford flats in a scrap wagon tent died of a heart attack Saturday. He led a frugal, independent life with a past marriage estranged from his wife and left a daughter Mrs Lillie Jones and a son J H Kent plus two other daughters. Funeral held Monday at Kinney and Corley with Rev Hinson officiating and burial in Highland cemetery.

Stamford school students in the Federal lunch room at the high school can now buy meals with milk and seconds for 25 cents starting February 1, reduced from 30 cents. Government surplus foods and standards help keep costs low, with plans to serve up to 500 students daily and move the band room to the Vernon building after spring.

Horace S Young son of Rey and Mrs S H Young of this city received his bachelor of laws degree in midterm graduation exercises at Southern Methodist University January 31. He graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1938 and SMU in 1942. He captained the football team and was class president in his senior year. He served in the Air Forces for 0 months in England and was discharged as a captain. His wife, married in 1946, is also an SMU graduate and has taught in Dallas schools while he studied law. They plan to move to Bishop where Young will establish his law practice.

Former Tuxedo Resident Alice Hood Dies at 74
Funeral services were held for Mrs. Alice I. Hood a former Tuxedo resident aged 74. She died Monday in Ft Worth Methodist Hospital after years of declining health and is buried at Fairview Cemetery beside her husband W. M. Hood. She was born June 29 1875 in Johnson County and moved to Tuxedo in 1892 later relocating to Fort Worth. Survived by daughter Cora Manley granddaughter Lee Vestal McKibben and a great grandchild.
