Four Committees Appointed by Vernon D Hart Post
The Vernon D Hart Post of the American Legion appointed four committees at its Monday meeting to oversee Ex Soldiers Reunion in Stamford July 5 to 7, the district Breckenridge Breckenridge convention attendance campaign, monthly post luncheons, and a local Forty and Eight chapter. The Ex Soldiers Reunion Committee includes Cleburne Huston as chairman with Reece Pratt Cecil McDaniel and C F Upshaw. Luncheon Committee is Clarence Nichols chairman with A Blackwell and W J Buie. Forty and Fight Committee lists Louis Dial chairman with George Connell and N A Brown. The Breckenridge steering committee names were not published. The first monthly luncheon will be held Monday night with Legion Auxiliary serving. cost not to exceed 75 cents per plate.

Stamford organized a High School Parent-Teacher Association with a good crowd. Officers elected include President Mrs W P Lyles first vice-president Mrs Rutherford second vice-president Mrs George Pryor third vice-president Mrs J E Montgomery recording secretary Mrs R L Haynie corresponding secretary and press reporter Mrs Starkey Duncan and treasurer Mrs Byron Lewis. A membership drive will begin soon and meetings are set for the second Wednesday each month at 3 30 p m at the High School. The cooking class served a refreshments plate after adjournment under Miss Ethel Rowell.
