TEA Evaluates Stamford Schools For Progress And Standards
An accreditation team from the Texas Education Agency in Austin visited Stamford for a two day evaluation of the school system including curriculum, program and facilities. The team, led by Jack Mayberry and Miguel De Los Santos, will provide a written report in about six weeks. The study assessed progress since a 1969 spring survey and noted new classrooms and other improvements.

Rites Held for Russell W. Bradley in Rule
Russell W. Bradley of Stamford died at 3:20 am Saturday after a brief illness. Services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Sweethome Baptist Church in Rule, with burial in Willow Cemetery, Haskell. He was 67, born November 22 1929 in Grand Saline and lived in Rule before moving to Stamford in 1956. He worked for Cotton Jansen Mill, married Bessie Graham in 1955, who died in 1970. He was a WWII veteran and belonged to Pinkerton Baptist Church. Survivors include sisters Leora Cox of Old Glory and Lucille Dacy of Houston, plus several nieces and nephews.
