Miss Alice Matthews of Gustine, sister of Mrs. A. R. Watson of this city, died Tuesday night January 24 after a long illness. Funeral held Wednesday with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery at Gustine. Mr. and Mrs. Watson and their son Lori Watson and his wife attended the funeral. Miss Matthews is survived by her mother Mrs. T. W. Matthews of Gustine, two brothers and five sisters including Mrs. Watson.

Funeral services for Alfred Hill age 33 were held at 2 30 P M Monday at Shepherd Lutheran church in Lubbock. He was husband to Mrs Henry Dresedow of Paint Creek and father of Sharon and Larry. He died after treatment at Lubbock Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife and two children.

William Edward Lindsey 66 longtime New Hope resident died Wednesday at St. Josephs Hospital Fort Worth after a heart attack nine days earlier. Funeral Friday at Bethel church Funston with burial in Bethel cemetery. Survivors include five sons three daughters and nineteen grandchildren plus great grandchild. He was born January 16 1884 in Hackleburg Alabama and moved to Jones County in 1921.

A large tenant house at the Stamford Cotton Oil Mill was destroyed by fire Wednesday around 150 PM. The blaze, believed caused by an oil stove, left the structure and contents a total loss while nearby buildings were protected.
