Mrs. Connie Ray Abbott of Rule died from internal injuries after a pickup struck the rear of the Abbott car about 10 40 Saturday. Six others were injured and hospitalized. her husband and father in law B H Abbott were among the injured. The funeral was held at Sagerton Methodist Church with burial in Rule Cemetery.

Fires devastate two Stamford homes in weekend disasters
In Stamford, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joyce Hawkins was destroyed by fire after they left for East Texas, with only furnishings insured. Nearby, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Plummer’s west Stamford house burned, leaving about $300 in insurance and prompting neighbors to warn them as flames spread from the kitchen. The Hawkins and Plummer families, linked by marriage, learned another loss as groceries and a child’s clothes were stolen from an unattended car parked at the Hawkins residence.
