1973 automobile license plates go on sale today

The Jones County license plate sale opens today with plates available at four local offices and by mail. Deputy tax collector Mrs Alva Grace Potts notes white plates with black letters and reflects the background. City told to set new date for sewer plant

City Manager HK Macomber represented Stamford at a Texas Water Quality Board hearing in Albany. Towns discussed ice water conditions in the Clear Fork at the Brazos River. Macomber said Stamford effluent enters Lake Stamford with little reaching the Brazos. He noted preliminary work underway and delays caused by state and federal boards. A completion date of March 4 had been set. an engineer urged filing a new proposed completion date.

Rainfall records and early field work hints in Montana

The month shows rainfall above normal with 96 inches noted for January. Measurements cite 4 inches on the 2nd, 1 inch on the 6th, 46 of an inch on the 26th, and 2 to 3 inches of standing water in fields. Lifted by light rain, workers may begin field tasks next week as soil dries.

Bishop Carlton to visit St. John’s United Methodist Church

WTU Rate Increase Considered by Stamford Council

West Texas Utilities seeks a 6 percent electric rate hike in Stamford. District Manager Russell Crowhover and Charles Hafer said the request is the first in 50 years, with 14 downward revisions in the past. Councilors asked for Stamford specific figures before action Friday.

Memorial service honors former President Landon B dobusan

Stamford residents joined a Thursday memorial service at St Robins United Methodist Church to remember Landon B. dobusan who had recently died in Texas. Hospital installs life saving machine at Stamford Memorial

Stamford Memorial Hospital has installed a Digital Readout IL Flame Photometer to measure electrolytes in the body. JH Cain, chief technologist, says the unit assesses potassium, carbon dioxide and chloride ions with rapid preliminary and full reports. The device shortens turnaround from hours to minutes, aiding emergency care and various conditions. Cain notes the lab’s capabilities span manual to fully automated chemistries and that the unit came from American Hospital Supply in Dallas. Cain, a Navy veteran, is pursuing a PhD in biochemistry and is a member of the American Society of Medical Technicians.

Mrs Fareed Hassen Gains U S Citizenship in Stamford

Mrs Fareed Hassen of 1409 Wells Stamford became a U S citizen on January 25. Born May 7 1940 in Choueillat Lebanon she taught English before marrying Fareed Hassen at Hassen's Department Store in Stamford on September 28, 1968. She arrived in Washington October 1968 and Stamford October 20 1972. She studied and took citizenship tests focusing on U S government and state government.

Former Stamford man to be honored with scholarship

An endowed scholarship fund at Wayland College honors Hardy Childress, the first graduate of Wayland Baptist College. Established by his son Dy Willan J.
