Stamford Red Cross district reports a 501 member roll call from a 500 quota with total contributions and fees of $606.81. Of this, $250.50 will go to the Midwestern Branch in St Louis while $356.31 remains in Stamford as the local chapter sees fit. L. W. Johnson thanks about a hundred volunteers and notes two divisions yet to report. Avoca and Tuxedo areas plus New Hope and Swenson School District contributed notable totals, with three firms 100 percent pledged.

Mrs. A C Easterling Critically Injured In Wreck
Mrs A C Easterling widow of A C Easterling and former Stamford business leader was critically injured when her car on the Devil's River Highway four miles north of Del Rio skidded into a ditch and hit a cement culvert. She suffered a fractured spine pelvis wrist and serious scalp wounds. The crash occurred as she traveled from her ranch northwest of Del Rio. She is reported in Del Rio hospital.

Anson Opens Jones County Cannery Under Pearl Bristow
The Jones county cannery began operations in Anson on Monday December 17 with Miss Pearl Bristow in charge. The plant follows state sanitation rules, requires health certificates for workers, and allows visitors to tour after donning caps and aprons. The first customers Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Jones produced 500 pounds of beef, yielding 273 cans under supervision of Miss Bonner and C. C. Jobson.

D P Scott 81 Pioneer Of This Section Dies At Stamford
David Preston Scott 81 a Stamford resident and pioneer of this section died at his home Thursday night. Funeral services were held Friday at 2:30 p m at the Church of Christ with Arthur Slater officiating. Interment was in New Hope cemetery Kinney Funeral Home directed. Surviving are four daughters Mrs M M Allison of Afton Mrs W H Parnell Stamford Mrs J M Hendricks Electra and Mrs L D Daniels El Paso and four sons FE D Scott Stamford Earl Scott Anson C C Scott Childress and R L Scott Royston. He came here 21 years ago and had farmed in Jones county and operated a Stamford grocery 8 years. He was a Church of Christ member 51 years.
