Stamford Goodfellows report 66 families seek aid, a record high, with 22 youths aged 18 or younger and 177 under 12. Total contributions fall about 700 dollars from last year as organizers scramble for more funds to buy wholesale toys and clothing. Weldon Holbrooks directs Tuesday distribution, with volunteers needed at the Goodfellow Center on North Swenson at 7:30 a.m. Continuous clothing pickups occur Saturdays from 1 to 5 pm.

Coltharp Construction Co has moved in equipment and staked off areas at Stamford Municipal Airport. A pre construction conference is set for Friday at city hall with representatives from the Federal Aviation Authority engineers Forrest and Colton city and contractor to discuss procedures and work. The project extends the runway to 3200 feet with a 60 by 3200 foot paved strip and a safe 150 by 3400 foot landing area.
