J. J. Upshaw known as Uncle Jack died at his residence after several weeks of illness following a leg fracture. Funeral services were held at home and later in Holland with Rev. O'Brien and Rev. Ninety nine Stamford High pupils earned honor roll status for the second six weeks. Seniors led with 24, followed by 24 juniors, 38 sophomores, and 13 freshmen. Honors are based on A grades or three points per subject for first rank, 2 points per subject for second rank, and B or two points per subject for third rank.
Stamford Bowling Team Wins Two Of Three In Abilene
The Stamford bowling team traveled to Abilene and won two of three matches. Stamford defeated Abilene 676 to 62% in game one, Abilene won game two 700 to 641, and Stamford surged in game three 800 to S. Stamford lineup included Upshaw, Carter, Loop, Perkie and ns.

Music Club to Present Carols Sunday Evening
The Stamford Music Club will present its annual Christmas program at First Baptist Church in a candlelight service Sunday night. The nativity story will be told in twelve simple scenes with familiar carols, opening with Hark the Herald Angels Sing as the chorus enters with candles. Mrs Ben Cole will read the Christmas story.

Six Stamford Boy Jack Puckett Dies at A and M College
John W. Jack Puckett Jr a junior at Texas A and M College died suddenly of infantile paralysis last Saturday night. Stamford friends were informed. The funeral was held in Austin on Monday. The Puckett family lived here in childhood and Mr and Mrs Puckett now of Pharr visited here briefly last Friday.

WPA Allocates 14077 For Stamford Water Improvements
The Works Progress Administration provides an additional 14077 to complete ongoing Stamford water system work. Mayor R Thomas was informed via Washington telegram from Senator Tom Connally. The funding allows lining the storage reservoir walls, diggers wells east of the reservoir, and hopes for softer, usable water from the seepage source.

J KE Feremeen of Stanford wore a pair of shoes bought from Bry ant dink Co of SWOT for 31 years. He wore them to church and events, keeping them in good condition until a later owner offered to buy back, while the worn sole and comfort faded.
