Representatives from Paint Creek and Lueders-Avoca high schools join Stamford in planning the 4H and FFA junior livestock show to be held at the Texas Cowboy Reunion venues. About 176 entries are likely with up to 411 boys and girls from Haskell, Jones, and Shackelford counties, prize money up to 1200 dollars. The California Creek Soil and Water Conservation District launches the 73rd annual Save The Soil and Save Texas essay contest with the theme Conservation: Key to Texas Prosperity. Repairs Completed At Stamford Sewage Plant

Citizens rally to fund Christmas for needy in Stamford
Stamford residents boosted holiday aid with $400 received so far by Goodfellows, more than last year. Lawrence Crider and Dick Holt named to buy groceries, 12 families on the list, elderly couples seeking aid, toys and clothes needed, used toys being repaired at the high school Voc Ag shop, and the Swenson Building to collect clothing with volunteers from local clubs accepting items Friday and Saturday. Lions Club donated $200, other donors include Dorcas Class, Mrs Swenson Davis, A R Simpson, Mrs J F Hudson, Co-Workers Class, Stamford Lioness Club, totaling several gifts as donations rise.

Chief Says Leads Slim In Safe Burglary Here
Stamford Police Chief B Q Cooper reports slim leads in the Royal Ford Co burglary last Thursday night when a large 1000 pound safe was hauled away in a station wagon from the service department. Fingerprints have been sent to Austin while county sheriffs compare notes and Texas rangers assist. The safe was opened but cash of about 365 dollars taken. checks and ledgers remained undisturbed. Three or more burglars likely involved as they used a cutting torch to attempt entry before loading the safe.
