Stamford Schools Plan Early Carnival for fund drive

Pupils and teachers from the Intermediate Central Ward and Bomar Heights in Stamford plan a school carnival to raise funds for equipment. The event, to be staged before Christmas holidays, will feature rooms hosting entertainment with a queen crowned and various stunts and sideshows.

Board of Stewards Re Elects Officers

The first meeting of the new board of stewards at St. John's Methodist church elected R. B. Bryant as chairman J. A. Smith as secretary and George Pryor as vice chairman for the ensuing year. The same officers served during the just closed conference year. Budget issues were discussed and tentative assessments set.

Uncle Henry Stevenson Dies Suddenly at 52

Uncle Henry Stevenson, 52, died suddenly early Tuesday morning at the family home in New Hope after returning from visiting an ill brother. The funeral was held Wednesday at New Hope Church at 3 p.m. He was a longtime resident who raised a large family, surviving five sons, four daughters, and many grandchildren. Born in Georgia on July 16, 1846, he was Abilene to spend Thanksgiving with Judge and Mrs. C. E. Coombes.

Fire destroys East Oliver apartment house in early Tuesday blaze

A fire at the Frank Adams old home on East Oliver at Wetherbee street destroyed the five unit apartment building and its contents. Mr. and Mrs. Coats narrowly escaped as smoke filled the building and the flames spread under a south wind. Insurance covers 7500 with 4000 on the house and 3500 on furniture. Mrs. Coats recovering in a sanitarium after a birth.

Missionary Society Elects New Officers

The Missionary Society met at St. John's Methodist church on Monday afternoon with Mrs. J. H. Rutherford presiding. Officers elected for the new year include Mrs. Jack Jones as president and Mrs. Otto Smith as vice president, along with secretaries, treasurers, and various superintendents.

Four Year Old Vivian Shadle Dies in Aspermont Family

Vivian Elnora Shadle four year old daughter of Mr and Mrs EB Shadle of Aspermont died Saturday here. The mother had lived in Stamford for months operating the Gift Shop but moved back to Aspermont. Young Has kell Bride Dies at Sixteen in Stamford Funeral Held

Mrs. Cecil Carlyle, 16, of Haskell, died in Stamford on Monday less than a month after her wedding. W. N. Kinney prepared the body and conveyed it to Haskell for funeral services held Tuesday.

Miss Beulah Davis Dies of Pneumonia at 89

Beulah Davis died Sunday morning from pneumonia at 89 after a brief illness. She worked for Southwestern Telephone Co and was noble grand of the local Rebekah Lodge. Funeral services were held at the family home Monday with Rev. R. A. Stewart and Rev. W. J Kney officiating. Burial was by the Rebekah Lodge with Kinney Undertaking Co. Surviving: mother, sister Eula, brothers Lee Frank Sanford, all of the city, an uncle Harrison of Arlington, and nephew Virgil Dway ix of Abilene.

City to Open Bids on Paving Plan Next Wednesday

Bids on 66 000 raunds of paving for 30 blocks of streets and 10 blocks of alleys will be opened at City Hall next Wednesday at 2 p m The contract will be awarded if bids are acceptable Paving types include concrete asphalt and brick The project aims to begin construction by January 1 and covers major avenues in the business district with several shorter links to connect them
