The First Baptist Church held a farewell social Tuesday honoring retiring pastor Rev W Moffett and his family who will move to San Antonio where he will pastor a local Baptist church. An evening program featured orchestra, talks, duets, and gifts including a watch and silver sandwich tray. Over two hundred guests were served iced watermelon on the church lawn.

Roy Williams Injured in Anson Highway Wreck
Roy Williams living four miles south of Stamford sustained a broken arm and dislocated shoulder when his car was hit on Highway 30 near his home. Mrs Williams and their two children had bruises but no serious injuries. A Buick from Hobbs New Mexico with two men caused the crash, and the Williamses were taken to the sanitarium. Also injured was Miss Mamie Choate whose truck rollover on Albany road left her with a broken hip and dislocated shoulder en route from Fort Worth to Levelland.

College Station July 31 Lawrence Westbrook manager of the Texas Cotton Co operative Association urged cotton marketing and production be tightly linked in co operative plans. Death of 7-month-old James Ashburn in Stamford area
James Wayland Ashburn, seven months old and son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ashburn of Tuxedo, died at the Stamford Sanitarium on Sunday. The funeral was held at Tuxedo Baptist Church on Monday with Rev. Ray of Abilene officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery, Kinney Brothers in charge of arrangements.

Griggs Died After Illness in Stamford Area
A. G. Griggs, 64, died here Wednesday night after about a month of illness. Born April 11, 1866, in McLennan County, he lived in and near Stamford for 22 years. Survived by wife, three daughters Mrs. Walter Dancer Stamford, Mrs. Jewell Boldin Oklahoma, Mrs. Ora McClung Stamford, and three sons J. W. Callie Roy Griggs Oklahoma. two daughters and two sons had preceded him. Also survived by three brothers J. F. Griggs Stamford, B. M. Griggs Meeker Oklahoma, sister Mrs. M. Casner Stamford. two sisters are dead. Funeral at Highland cemetery Thursday, Rev. A. L. Whittington officiating. Kinney Brothers in charge.
