Girls Drum Corps And McMurry Band Concert Saturday
The Wah Wahtaysees Drum Corps and the McMurry Band will give a 40 minute concert on Stamford square Saturday afternoon. Sixty two visiting musicians arrive around 4 p m and parade around the square before performing on the post office lawn. The drum corps is composed of 42 McMurry coeds, one of two all women drum corps in the state, accompanying 20 men from the band. The program includes marches overtures college pop songs and popular ballads.

Fundraising Dinner To Decide Legion Hall Debts
Raising funds to meet the indebtedness against the local Legion Hall will be decided at an army style feed next Monday night at the Hart Post hall. Ex servicemen and their wives from Jones County are invited as hosts. The Verdon D Hart Post purchased the hall in 1928 for 93 000 with eight annual notes. The first three notes and all interest to March 1933 have been paid. Insurance on the building was renewed this year.

Farm Woman Dies After Drinking Carbolic Acid
Mrs. Jo Ann Sommers 72, a Jones county farmer's wife, died at home east of Stamford after ingesting carbolic acid. Her husband returned home shortly before 5 pm and found her dead. A funeral service was held at 2 pm led by Rev. C. R. Hooton at the Swedish cemetery chapel with burial in the Swedish cemetery east of Stamford. Survivors include her husband Carl Sommers and a daughter, with nine others mentioned.
