The Cub Scouts of Stamford plan a house to house drive on Saturday April 28 starting at 9 a.m. to gather bath and kitchen goods and non perishable food for tornado victims at Vernon and Wichita Falls. A pickup station will be at Harmon Park.

City of Stamford launches senior nutrition program May 2
The Stamford Nutrition Project begins May 2 at St. Ann's Parish Hall offering hot nutritionally balanced meals on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays at noon for Jones County residents aged 60 and over and their spouses. The program includes recreation information services and other activities from 10 30 a m to 3 p m with ride assistance by calling Mary Stone. After kickoff, the contact number is 773 2571 during stated hours. Contributions are invited but not required with meals for guests under 60 priced at 1 to 1 50.

Stamford CofC Head Resigns to Pursue Outside Sales
Charlie Young, longtime manager of the Stamford Chamber of Commerce since early January, submitted his resignation to Chamber President Bill Longley on Monday. A Vivian, Louisiana native and Texan by upbringing, he plans outside sales and hopes to remain in Stamford though relocation is possible. He is a World War II Air Force veteran, University of Missouri and Sul Ross alumnus, and previously led CofC activities in McCamey, Plainview, and Abilene.
