Alderman Ingham told the Leyley Borough Council on Tuesday night that the Acting Chief Commissioner overlooked prior remarks about poor train service. He questioned the commissioner's claim of 11 late trains per day for three weeks, suggesting the figures came from guards' running sheets and favored guards' interests.
Ald Ingham notes at least 242 trains were late over three weeks with delays up to twenty minutes. He cites daily commuting patterns and says public pressure via the press led to improvements. An absolute record occurred at 8.45 am from Rockdale arriving only four minutes late instead of the usual ten.
