CANNOT TEACH No teachers must hold a certificate in Kentucky
An official note from Superintendent J G Crabbe warns school boards that all teachers must be legally certified after examination. The circular bans uncertified applicants and restricts state funds to those with valid credentials, outlining the examination dates and county limits, with emergencies only allowing limited exceptions. The notice also discusses the acceptance of only county-issued certificates and admonishes districts to conform to the law. Scarlet fever closures affect several county schools, with Magnolia and others pausing classes as a precaution while the epidemic subsides.

Special Elections Draw Busy Indiana Polls in Delaware County
Special elections across six districts focused on Delaware County home to Muncie where local option advocates fought hardest and opponents of Gov. Hanly pressed their case. Initial returns show L. G. Cowing leading the Republican ticket by 247 in a normally Republican county, with late counts likely narrowing. Local option carried Maine by about 2200 votes, while other counties saw light voting and no issue focus. The Indianapolis Star editorially predicts Republican losses statewide, blaming the Fairbanks machine and Gov. Hanly for the rift.
