Springfield ties vote to pay saloon fine for Thompson

City Council approved a 100 appropriation to cover the fine of C A Thompson who was fined for opening a saloon on election day the local option vote in Washington county. Mayor Lewis cast the deciding vote after a two to two tie among councilmen. The case now awaits possible appeal to the Circuit Court.

Hounded by the officers Munfordville tragedy

Munfordville Kentucky Sept 12 John F Hatsley committed suicide at his home by shooting through the heart. Deputy Sheriff Joe Stuart had six teen bench warrants to serve for alleged illicit liquor sales and was at Hatsley’s home when the act occurred. Hatsley, a Swiss native long in Hart county, formerly ran the Walton House and was a well known traveler contact, survived by his wife and two children. Inquest planned. speculation cites inability to face charges. Three men blown to pieces by premature dynamite at a railroad camp near Kenova Minn.
