The Nelson county drys faced overwhelming odds yet held firm against whisky interests. Campaigners like Attorney Morgan Yewell and Revs. Anderson and Talbott led persistent opposition, predicting victory and urging continued mobilization for a three year campaign despite a 265 to 265 wet result and heavy distillery influence.
William J. Bryan, escorted by the Nebraska Home Folks, leaves Jersey City for a world progress tour in a five car special train. The party expects receptions in Detroit Chicago Lincoln and other cities with Bryan planning speeches from September 11 in St. Louis to September dates in Louisville Cincinnati Radford and Southern states. He notes public sentiment shifting on economic questions and the trust issue.

It is probable there will be over one hundred students from outside the district enrolled.
Col J B Wathen reports four head of cattle died in the past week from an unknown cause. A Louisville state veterinarian could not determine a cause after examining remains. One more head died last Friday Sunday Monday and Tuesday before precautionary movement of the herd. The vet said deaths were not due to anthrax or black leg.
