George Wycoff of Carlisle Kentucky a College of Law graduate has located heirs to a Manhattan Island title after a 99 year lease expired. He and a New Orleans grandson are the sole heirs to property valued by eight million dollars in buildings and an anticipated four year deadline to reclaim the land. The American Security Company of New York will provide the Racienary Site and Wycoff plans to take possession of a large city slice.
Clyde Young died at home after a four week illness from an brain abscess. He was about twenty, youngest son of Ben Young, one of eleven children. Funeral services were held Monday at St. Dominic's church. The Sun extends condolences to the family.
Fire discovered at 1:30 AM in a frame store room at Wall street used by J. K. Cheatham’s grocery. The blaze burned through the floor rear, gas alarm sounded, fire department quickly controlled flames. Building owned by John R. Barber and leased to C. A. Thompson who carried no insurance. Cheatham had 700 dollars on stock, covering loss. Origin of the fire unknown.
Satisfaction grows with the newly established automobile line between here and Lebanon. A second car will be added this week for Chautauqua attendees. Mr Gratz operates the machines and guarantees careful handling. he will stop if a horse is frightened and assist drivers by directing the animal past safely.
Four parcels from the estate of M L Searcy sold at the Washington Circuit Court sale. The tobacco ware house near the depot sold to B D Lake for 2825 dollars. West Main street store houses sold to J C McElroy for 3165 dollars. East Main street frame residence sold to G C Wharton for 300 dollars. The undivided interest of A M Alexander in the Archie Mayes estate sold for 667 dollars to Temple National Bank Belton Texas.
The wedding of Miss Mallye Hatchett of Tatham Springs to Mr. Oliver Rogers of Taylorsville is set for this afternoon at 2 oclock at Mount Oliver church. Hatchett is the daughter of Rev and Mrs H P Hatchett and is a popular young woman. Rogers is a popular young businessman from Taylorsville.
Last week Mr. Chas D Miller's mule escaped to Geo Wright's land and fell into a 20 foot well. The animal stood in water before being hoisted out by a derrick but died three days later from the shock. Valued at 165 dollars, it was a loss to Miller. Nad Hardin faced police court for drunken disturbance in Hocker, fighting with two women, and rock throwing. He was fined 52.50 in two charges after admitting drunkenness and cursing.
Judge I H Thurman of Springfield teams with Mr Frank Peters of Lebanon to form a saddle brood mare partnership. They bought Bourbon Belle mare from Allen S Edelen of Bourbon and plan to breed mares to Bourbon King and Bohemian King. They seek a suitable stallion head for their herd of Chief strain.
Mrs Annie Edelen Wright 25 wife of Dr J Spencer Wright died after a five month illness from tuberculosis near Gasburg. Daughter of John Edelen she married Dr Wright about five years ago. they had a son. Funeral services were held at St Rose and burial followed in St Rose cemetery.
Mr and Mrs Mansfield Kirby of Bowling Green announce the engagement of daughter Clara Hines to Russell Chescheir of Louisville. The wedding is planned for early fall. Chescheir, formerly from Bowling Green, is the second son of Mr and Mrs Geo Chescheck and works in a senior post with the L N and P Co.
The Ash family Frank H. and Nannie J. Ash express gratitude for kindness and favors shown during their baby's illness and death and wish the supporters blessings in the future.
