Springfield Teachers Institute Opens July 19 at Graded School
The Institute for white teachers will be held at Springfield Graded School starting July 19 for five days. County teachers must attend daily. Prof A S Mackenzie of State University will lead English instruction. Attendees should prepare in advance and bring the syllabus. The program runs 9 pm to 4 pm. attendance is required.

Goebel Monument planned unveiling in Frankfort
News from Senator James B. McCreary says arrangements will begin for the Goebel Monument to be unveiled and dedicated over Governor William Goebel’s grave in the State Cemetery at Frankfort in September. The ceremonies, planned as elaborate, were postponed due to illness in the Goebel family. both brothers Arthur and Justus Goebel report improvement and expect to attend. McCreary will soon convene the monument commission in Frankfort to finalize details.

Dinwiddie Dead Leaves Scotland aristocracy in grief
Mr Wm Dinwiddie aged about 85 died from heat prostration in Louisville after his daughter Mrs Jas HL Lampton was called there. Born in Scotland into an aristocratic family, he came to America in 1852, lived in Illinois briefly, then Grayson County Kentucky where he remained until his wife’s death in 1900. He later resided with his son Robert in Louisville. Funeral was held Saturday afternoon and interment was in the old homeplace in Gray county.
