The Burley Growers Association pooled 2200 acres of tobacco in Washington County, far above early forecasts. Delegates from Winchester Kentucky report strong enthusiasm and expect smooth handling of the crop with about 70 percent now controlled by the society and 16 percent added since New Year.
Will Nally a Fenwick farmer is appointed county organizer for the American Society of Equity and serves as President of the Washington county Society of Equity. The Sun praises his energy enthusiasm and leadership and predicts he can rally local members.
Springfield editor recalls a 60 day effort starting with a New Castle convention to organize Burley tobacco. He highlights rapid progress and urges farmers to appreciate the completed work and looming benefits.
In Fenwick Washington county a local union in Burley district grows to forty counties with about one thousand members per county. Since November 26 pooling tobacco, by January 1 1907 eleven locals formed, pooling 1600 acres and raising $17000 to construct a county warehouse led by W. M. Natty.
A big meeting of the Burley Growers of Washington County is set for next Saturday afternoon in Springfield. Greenville reports from the Winchester gathering will be heard. Delegates from Kentucky Indiana and Ohio attend Winchester, with expected discussion on organization plans.

The Burley Growers organization denounces the letter and urges authorities to capture the writer, warning of a U.S. prison sentence if apprehended.
Memorial services held by the literary and debating society honor Miss Dorothy Mc Elroy with speeches by Nellie Noe Mary Lampton Mary Haydon and others. The program featured music including El Miserere from Il Trovatore and a Tennyson discussion about hunting the hunter with witty asides and a foxy conclusion. Prof Thompson John Gayeracker and Lizzie Waters contributed as the school gears up for an entertainment on the 22nd.
Chris Liebel, a brakeman on the freight train between here and Louisville, was killed at Bardstown Junction about six o clock in the evening as the train moved toward Louisville. The incident occurred last week according to reports from the scene.
While assisting in switching cars at a junction, 25 year old Corbin Kentucky resident and brakeman for five years John Liebel fell and was caught between couplings. He died shortly after. T Dudley Wells this week assigned his business to his brother Charles Wells, a longtime local businessman from McClure & Wells and Wells Bros. investors hope to settle liabilities.
Lebanon voters head to the polls on March 25 for a local option election. Campaigns circulate candidate names and organizers claim a clear win while Washington County follows the race with interest.
Washington report says Blackburn friends push for I C C seat but he declines. McChord, Kentucky railroad official, favored if Blackburn steps aside. Also notes Agnes Nally and James Brussell wed at St Dominic's Church with attendants from local area.
A small cyclone visited Lebanon last Saturday causing trees to scatter, black smoke, and a roofed home damage. It knocked windows and twisted trees near Mr. Whit Me’s residence, then carried a man named Geo. Graham 60 yards into a mud-puddle before continuing toward Springfield.
A large crowd attended two wedding ceremonies in Fredericktown on Wednesday January 9. Louis Mudd married Miss Charety Willett while Mary Lacy married Reynolds of Bear Walter Reynolds. Father Pieters conducted services and the choir from Howardstown led the music. A banquet and supper followed at local homes as the community extended blessings.
Theo Campbell and WE Leachman have purchased the Paul and Bowling Alley. The firm, Sage ducted by L D Baker Street, plans extensive improvements and aims to make the establishment one of the most up to date in the state in a short time.
