City of Lystra revisited a long vanished Kentucky dream
A 107 year old English syndicate planned a vast City of Lystra near New Market in Marion County. Streets and a public square were laid out, a major shipping point along the Rolling Fork was envisioned, and 15,000 acres purchased in 1797. Many lots sold abroad, with tales of residents and vanished families. A romance amid the myth ends with a New Orleans reunion and a plantation life. Also notes President Roosevelt may call an extra session to revise the tariff and a Gillespie murder case jury in Rising, Indiana.
