Strong Comparison From Auditor's 1905 Tables On Nelson County
The 1905 Auditor's Report tables show Nelson County paid far more than LaRue and Spencer for witnesses in criminal prosecutions and for convict conveyance, guards, jailers, constables, and marshals. It notes Nelson's higher expenditures despite smaller population and argues revenue stems from greater taxable property, contrasting with Bullitt Spencer and Shelby counties and calling out local option effects.
