Mystery of a dead infant and a colored father tale
A long account recalls a dead infant found in the old graveyard and links it to Robert Moss, a colored man living near the red top house. The infant died within hours. Moss allegedly refused a coffin, aunt Lacy Chitwood placed the body in a cigar box, and Moss later left the box by a grave, claiming burial. The box was found next day, fueling a nine days wonder.
