Comical Elopement and The John B Gray Transaction
A humorous tale from a rural area recounts a young couple eloping despite obstacles. Neighbors and family intercede in light comic fashion as the couple pursues a private union. The piece then details the St Louis era John B Gray transaction, outlining a Missouri suit and congressional action securing a large reimbursement for wartime militia expenditures.
