William Small of Brantford Ontario formerly of Brokenhead Manitoba is in Winnipeg as a delegate from the Massey Harris plant at Brantford to the Canadian Congress of Labor convention opening at the Civic Auditorium. He is a United Automobile Workers member and visited Beausejour Brokenhead area over the weekend.

Postponed Tractor Club and Fair Day Events

The Tractor Club Achievement Day planned with the Fair Day has been postponed to a later date. The farm equipment exhibition was also postponed and a new date will be announced later.

Evelyn Lanaway wins three firsts at 23rd fair

Evelyn Lanaway daughter of Mr and Mrs D Lanaway earned top honors at the Brokenhead Agricultural Fair in Beausejour on September 22. She won red ribbons for best composition and for two entries in sewing a layer cake and an apron. Her essay describes club life with the Little Stitches Sewing Club and club activities from meetings to camps and demonstrations.

Brokenhead Fair Announces Winners Amid Light Entries

The 23rd Brokenhead Agricultural Fair at Beausejour faced low livestock numbers due to harvest timing and poor prior weather. Winners span horses, beef cattle, pigs, poultry, plants, eggs, soap, canned goods, dairy, honey, and student works, with many named exhibitors led by A Larson, J Mroz, Phylis Mroz, Dorothy Modrzejewski, Clara May Steffes, and W Zielke. A dance funded to the War Memorial and a 3000 cheque from Manitoba Pool Elevators supported the Beausejour hospital guild, with final funds pending at press time.

Lac du Bonnet Foods Club Plans Achievement Day

The Lac du Bonnet Foods Club will hold its annual Achievement Day meeting at the Lac du Bonnet school on October 3 at 7 30 p m. A short program starts at 8 p m followed by a team demonstration by Donna Peterson and Maryla Patterson, contestants for the Provincial Foods championship in Brandon on October 14.
