Farmers of Brokenhead municipality join residents of Beausejour for a mass meeting in Municipal hall Friday October 6 at 8 p.m. to discuss Canada’s cooperative movement. Delegates Chosen for Hospital Aid Meet in Winnipeg
Mrs. R. Giesbrecht of Whitemouth and Mrs. C. Ritchey of Rennie were named delegates from Hospital Aid to attend the Hospital Aid association convention on October 20 at the Fort Garry hotel in Winnipeg. The appointments were approved at a municipal hall meeting Tuesday with Mrs. A. S. Williams presiding. Minutes were read and bed lamps for Whitemouth hospital and lamps for the nursing station were discussed.

Beausejour School Sees 35-Student Enrollment Rise
Beausejour collegiate and public schools report about 350 pupils, up over 35 from last year. Collegiate staff includes principal John Chala turnyk and aides W. F. Murrell and G. Chauviere. Inauguration of Shrine of La Salette September 24
A Beausejour event marks the unveiling of the Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette. The ceremony at 3 p.m. will be led by His Excellency Georges Cabana with Monsignor Ignatus Zielonka and local clergy. Assistance to Complete War Memorial Centre Promised by Town Council
Beausejour town council met on September 12 and 14 to hear eight delegations. The War Memorial committee sought funds to finish a two storey centre. over $25,000 invested so far with basement done. Council pledged help before winter to prevent basement damage. Also discussed traffic slow zones, fireproofing Park Avenue, hall rentals reform, and accepted bids for a Fargo truck and land sale. Lac du Bonnet Council Petition for Public Lane
At a September 11 meeting the Lac du Bonnet Village Council heard petitioners seek a lane through part of Block 2 Plan 3309 between Park Avenue and No 1 Highway. They advised further petitioning for a lane through Blocks 1 and 2 from Fifth Street to Minnewawa Street with a free right of way if property owners agree. Joseph Nesper filed the petition on behalf of petitioners. Council set the municipal solicitor retainer at 45 per year and made it retroactive to January 1, 1948.

New Street Lighting System Replacing Old Set-up
Beausejour residents will soon gain a modern street lighting system. Councillor Wolanin, head of the Electrical Department, blamed an electrical company for delays in delivering a new system. He compared the old setup to an ancient Model A Ford and said repairs are costly with scarce parts, making the new purchase urgent. Citizens’ patience should be rewarded once installation reduces costs.
