Lac du Bonnet St John’s Church 60th Anniversary
The Anglican Church at Lac du Bonnet began with a mission started by Bishop Joseph Lofthouse in 1905. W Ellis led early services in a school house and at Power Camp No 1, with Rev. A A Adams conducting several early services. The 1906 opening service drew 32 in the morning and 53 in the evening, with a total offering of 3.10. Sixty years on, many clergy and parishioners shaped the life of St. John’s parish. Continued on Page 6.

Farewell gifts were showered on Mr and Mrs E Preece who have left Pointe du Bois to make their home in Winnipeg. The C U P E Local 500 presented a sunburst wall clock and Peter Pollen gave a bridge table and chairs set with an AM FM mantle radio. Mrs Preece received carnations from the Community Club and an aurora borealis pin and earring set from staff house employees. Mr Preece joined the Pointe du Bois Post Office in 1929 and brought Edith there in 1934. They have twin sons Raymond and Ronald living in Vancouver and a daughter Pamela attending Tec Voc in Winnipeg.

Third Cuboree Set for Saturday at Milner Ridge
The RCAF Station Milner Ridge hosts the third annual Cuboree for Cub packs from Lac du Bonnet Pinawa Great Falls Beausejour and Pine Falls on September 18. Activities begin at ten bells with opening ceremonies Cub skills sports games films and a guided radar site tour. Everyone is invited to watch the Cubs in action.

Drainage Improvements Dominate Lac du Bonnet Council Meeting

Pinawa Church Starts New Season With Resident Minister
The Pinawa Christian Fellowship enters a new season with a resident minister Rev. D. R. Ross. Sunday worship is at 11:00 in the Elementary School Auditorium. Church School begins with graded classes, nursery, and crib. Communion is first Sunday monthly starting October 3 World Wide Communion Day. Choir practices Fridays at 7:00. new members welcomed. Women’s meeting Sept 29 at 8:45 pm to discuss a Women’s Church Group. Bible study for grades 9-12 starts Sept 19 at 7 pm led by George Takashima.
