Trans-Canada Highway trip through northern Ontario to Kapuskasing

H B Munro describes a 380 mile first day from Port Arthur to Kapuskasing with mixed road conditions from paved sections along Lake Superior to rough natural gravel stretches. He notes Hearst and Smooth Rock Falls areas, a developing grade near Kenogami Lake, and praises Kapuskasing as a well developed overnight stop with mills and recreation facilities. He cautions the highway’s uneven quality but finds the drive passable at 35 to 50 mph and plans to return.
