Powerview Council Swears In New Councillor Amid ByLaws Passed
The Powerview council on Tuesday November 9 swore in a new councillor to finish Justin Normand's term. A bylaw selling part of Lot 62 Plan 3159 to Peter Puga for 175 dollars was approved, along with a traffic and licensing bylaw governing vehicles and lights. Council also discussed ditch work, water supply costs for fire cases, conservation of shacks, and enforcement of dog and bicycle licenses.

The Seven Sisters Red Cross annual meeting on Sunday November 21 elected Wilf Lewis as president by acclamation. The Lac du Bonnet St. John’s Anglican church hosted a bazaar and fun fair at Memorial Hall and Rink on Friday November 19. Rev. F W Maxwell opened the event with Mrs G Ambrose present. Proceeds from booths, games, and a turkey shoot totaled about 348 dollars for a new church furnace. a tea room event drew large crowds with volunteers handling serving and seasonal tables.

Beausejour couple marks silver anniversary with 400 guests
Mr and Mrs Henry Stefanuik of Beausejour celebrated their silver wedding on November 5 with a dinner and dance at Ladywood Parish Hall. Nearly 400 guests attended, including relatives, longtime friends, and out of town visitors from Winnipeg Kenora Massey Harris and Transcona. The couple, active in the community, were married at St Dmitrius Church in Ladywood in 1925 and later moved to Beausejour to run a garage business.

The Seven Sisters Hospital Guild held a Fun Fair on Friday November 19 with a large attendance. Charlie Precious of the Whitemouth Hospital Board opened the event and thanked the Guild for support. Mrs Mae Hignell welcomed the crowd as president. Booths and concessions sold well led by the Bingo table run by J Gibbins and M Everson. Raffle winners included Mrs F Schultz Mrs W Wardrop Jon Kuhn Mrs B Emmes M Everson and Alex Hill. Profit estimated over 209 dollars after expenses.

The Catholic Church of St Theresa in Pine Falls, dating to 1928, is finishing a long renovation begun in 1956. Work includes two side aisles, new marbleized altar, Donnacona tiles, Gyproc walls, a choir loft, and an illuminated cross above the main altar. Regular services continue in the parish hall during construction.

The Lac du Bonnet curling club met on Wednesday November 17 with North Eastern Manitoba clubs to discuss the annual Bonspiel.
