A 61 year old foreman Steven Bilan of 458 Stella Avenue was accidentally killed at Pine Falls Manitoba on May 13. Requiem Mass held May 16 at St Edward s Roman Catholic Church. Burial at Assiniboine Memorial Park. Survived by six sons, three daughters, three brothers and 11 grandchildren. Born in Austria he came to Manitoba 24 years ago. Prayers said at Mordue Brothers funeral home Monday.

Peter Preede 81 died at his daughter’s home in Lac du Bonnet on April 30 after a short illness. A Latvia immigrant who settled in Bird River in 1910, he is survived by his daughter Mrs Strasdin, two grandchildren Frt.Sgt. Fred Strasdin and Mrs. Marshall, and great granddaughter Sharon Strasdin. Funeral held at Bird River cemetery on May 2. he was predeceased by his wife in 1930.

Manitoba Government Air Service completed a final spring flight using ski equipped aircraft from Lac du Bonnet to the Fisher River fur rehabilitation area to collect 6000 dollars worth of muskrat furs. Furs were moved by truck to Winnipeg for grading and storage. Air service activities will be cut back for at least ten days as waters clear.
