Powerview Council Votes for Tax Sale and Signage

Powerview council met May 8 with Mayor H. May presiding and all members present. By law No 6 passed after ministerial approval. mill rate 88 mills with allocations to General Municipal, General School, Special School, Street lights, and ministry levy. A June 26 tax sale of delinquent parcels was ordered. Resolutions call for highway signs, extension course attendance, liens on unpaid accounts, and attempts to collect from Manitoba Paper Co. Accounts totaling $1724.37 approved for payment.

Angling Championship Date Announced in Manitoba

Manitoba's third annual Provincial Angling Championship set for June 10 in the White Mud River area near Westbourne. MPAC chairman R. T. Bill Robinson says sponsor groups are Fish and Game Associations of Neepawa and Portage la Prairie. Top prize is a boat and outboard motor. main prize goes to the largest fish. Whitemouth Couple Exchange Vows In Winnipeg Ceremony

Verna Jorgenson and Helgi Storseth wed on May 5 at Our Savior's Lutheran in Winnipeg. Rev Cherland officiated with music by Mrs Overgaard and solo by Mrs D Coombe. The bride wore white nylon and satin with lace and sequins and carried red roses and mums. The couple, with over 200 guests, planned to travel to the States and visit Toronto before settling in Winnipeg.

Pine Falls Legion Plans Fundraising For Hospital Ward

Pine Falls Legion branch No 6 BESL announces three fundraisers to furnish a Pine Falls hospital ward. A Bingo Night on May 21 at 8 30 p m in the Legion Hall. An Amateur Hour with Pine Falls minor hockey on May 25 at 7 30 p m. A Rifle Shoot May 25 at 1 p m with the 6th Field Regiment at the armouries. All proceeds go to the ward project.

Manitoba Road Program Underway With 12 Bridge Contracts

Manitoba launches its 27 million road program awarding twelve contracts for bridgework grading and surfacing. At least twenty more contracts remain to be let before May end. A large firm has worked two weeks in Carberry Hills with grading and paving aimed for completion by October. some gravelling and bridgework may extend into winter.
