Fred Lewko of Beausejour died at St Josephs hospital on March 16 at age 57 after a 13 day illness. He came to Canada from the Old Country 36 years ago and lived most of that time in Beausejour. Funeral at Greek Catholic Church Beausejour March 21 at 10 am Rev Cermyo officiating. Burial in Boder cemetery. Russell Funeral Home in charge. Survived by widow Martha and several children.
Stanley Englot of Beausejour died March 19 in Winnipeg at Deer Lodge Hospital. Born May 4, 1913, he worked for G. M. Huntley and Gretsinger Bros before moving to Winnipeg in 1935 to join Powell Equipment Co. He served in the RCNVR. Funeral held March 23 at Gardiner's chapel with burial at Brookside Cemetery. Survived by widow Marcia Viola, mother Mrs. Margaret Englot, five brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers named.

Helen Lagsdin of Lac du Bonnet Manitoba is enrolled for the second semester at Western Michigan College Kalamazoo Michigan according to a newly completed enrollment analysis.
Ford Motor Company appoints Steve Beles and Pete Beauden of Beasley Motors Beausejour as Mercury and Lincoln dealers for Beausejour and Whitemouth districts. Beauden, noted A-1 mechanic, previously worked in Beausejour from 1926 to 1932.
A Springfield correspondent reviews a year of growth in Tyndall. New businesses include a modern groceteria on the Trans-Canada Hi highway, an Imperial Oil garage, and a gift shop. Homes and stores modernize, a 25 year dormant Red Deer Hotel reopens as a social hub, and several builders plan spring projects.
Merylyn Carey received a theatre award at the United College annual graduation banquet in the Fort Garry Hotel last Wednesday. The Pine Falls native, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Carey, was honored for active participation and executive work in college theater and has served four years on the dramatic council executive.
Beausejour- Brokenhead War Memorial executive committee met at the Beausejour Hotel on March 18 electing a building committee led by Oscar Russell with C. H. Bethel J. J. Ridley and W. R. Bethel. They will present plans for a closed-in link for approval at April 22 and monthly meetings thereafter open to members. A $200 total from school children is noted and collections will pause until next fall. J. Pulfer and S. C. Henderson were named to award prizes for best student plans.
Dorene Wad dell daughter of Mr and Mrs A Wad dell Portage now Beausejour and Frederick Adams son of Mr and Mrs Andrew Adams Charleswood were married March 14 at 5 30 pm in Westminster United Church officiated by Dr E M Howse. Bride wore white embossed satin with Peter Pan collar and lily point sleeves carrying Calla lilies. Miss Irene Collett was brides maid and John Hammond was best man. Reception for immediate family followed at the bride’s brother’s home. The couple departed for Montreal and will reside in Winnipeg on return.
About 200 St Marys members gathered at the Beausejour Parish Hall on Sunday March 16 to honor assistant pastor Rev Joseph Gurka. A school children play directed by Miss Neigardowski and Possak, a Polish comedy by Mrs Chmielnicki and John Antosh, and tributes by Father Carmylo E Kielback and Father Zimmerman were part of the program. Dorothy Seredynski presented a gift, supper was served, and a film The Parish Priest was shown.

Visitors include Mrs W Lewis Mrs A Frantz Mr and Mrs M Thomson and Jack Howcroft.
Fire swept the farm home of Mr and Mrs John Hudyma in Ladywood on Monday March 17 destroying the residence and contents. No injuries were reported as firefighters battled the blaze.
Roy Freund led a tight final in the Lac du Bonnet Spring Bonspiel as high school rinks and local clubs battled through a windy season. Winners of the main event were Freund Marcuson Mrs Hyde and Irene Lavoie with runners up Park Park Gillis and Evelyn Park in a close finish. The consolation final saw Dancyt versus Guy end with Guy narrowly missing a tie on a heavy final rock.
George G. Elias of Haskett Manitoba the provincial champion in the 1946 National Barley Contest earning a $400 cash prize. Donald Bradley David Marr D J McKay head Manitoba regional prize winners from Regions One Two Three and Four with regional prizes totaling $160 $130 $115 $100 and provincial awards up to $300.
L. W. Brockington will speak on the Dominion network from the Royal York Hotel Banquet Hall Toronto to celebrate the Massey Harris Co Ltd centennial. Listeners in the region can hear CKRC at 9 30 p m Friday for the broadcast.

A $100 club donation to Beausejour-Brokenhead War Memorial was presented, and a jacket and roses were given for service and hospitality.
The Pointe du Bois ladies hosted two rinks from Pinawa and friends on Saturday March 15. A cold supper preceded games, and after the matches coffee and cakes followed. Exchanges were evened for the season, renewing friendships and promoting local club ties.
