Pine Falls Farewell Party for Local 245 Members

A farewell event honored A. B. Smith and Fred J. Thibodeau by Local No. 245 of the International Brotherhood of Paper Makers Union on Feb. 23 at the Riverside clubhouse. Roy Perry presented gold wrist watches. speakers recalled early mill days. guests shared stories and a buffet lunch followed by cards.

Curling Cup Leads Pointe du Bois Ree Team Ahead

Arnold Niemi leads with Leona Luio Eileen Preston and Chester Storseth, four wins one loss, while other rinks show two wins and one loss each. Competition to end around March 15. Anderson children held a large toboggan party with games bingo lunch and travel home content. Several students were briefly ill but returned. Easter exams begin at High School with hopeful results.

Pine Falls School Notes Dearly Missed Students

A long weekend sent many Pine Falls high school students to Winnipeg with Kathy Roy Clare Higgin son Verna Perry Rosemary Lyons Barbara Aseltine Dolores Groves and Edith Bayly among visitors only Doug Lauchlan remained male. Glenn Smith left for British Columbia after a class outing where he was honored with a fund gift. A Sunday School party at the Sharpe home celebrated his departure as he was presented a gold signet ring. Carol Thibodeau grades VII departs for the Soo as Mrs. Hodgson notes her mother in Winnipeg.

Pointe du Bois Ladies Bazaar and Social Evening

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Canadian Legion Pointe du Bois Branch held a Bazaar and Social Evening on February 25 in the Community Hall with whist, goods sale, lunch and dancing. Prizes included a doll won by Mrs Enid Brown and a wall plaque won by K Wengel. Mildred Lodge took Nylon stockings in a nickel auction. Receipts totaled 102 dollars.
