Rally Set for 4-H Club Event in Lac du Bonnet

The 4-H Club Rally for Northeastern Manitoba is slated for Saturday June 12 in Lac du Bonnet with about 350 4-H members and 100 adult leaders expected. Activities run 9 to 10 registration, bake and centerpiece contests at 9 15, parade at 10, lunch at noon, Dress Revue at 4 and Rally Queen crowning to close. Local groups provide strong support. No admission charged.

Lutherans Hold Confirmation and First Service in Lac Du Bonnet

In Lac du Bonnet about 180 worshipped at the new Lutheran Church of the Cross for the first service. Ten confirmands pledged faithfulness after three years of classes. A reception followed and ten named youth were confirmed. Next Sunday they will take first communion. Names include Ingun Behrendt James Fieblekorn Cyril Larson Coral Melquist Cameron Neurenberg Louise Petersen Ryan Sellers Edward Stine Karen Sundstrom Carl Thor.

Stirling Pipe Band shines at Moose Jaw festival

The Stirling Pipe Band representing Pine Falls Manitoba competed May 20 and 21 1971 at the 22nd annual Kinsmen International Band Festival in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan. W Rodger and Tom Gold won gold in Solo Piping and Solo Drumming. A Rodger and J Rodger placed second. The band won Pipe Band Competition Class 2 and Street Marching, plus the Grand Aggregate best all around Pipe Band award from the Saskatchewan Farmer's Union Moose Jaw Local. Pipe Major WJ MacLeod praised the group for the town's credit.

Seventeenth Annual Piano Recital Marks Mrs Atkinson's Final Event

Mrs. A Atkinson hosts her seventeenth annual piano recital in Lac du Bonnet on May 28 1971. Pupils perform pieces ranging from Moonlight Sonata to Visions and Ride of the Cuckoo with solos and duets including Grieg and Mozart selections. The evening honors Mrs Atkinson with a gift and congratulations for her many years of teaching.

Scouts Headed on Whitemouth River Canoe Brigade

Agassiz District sponsors a three day Whitemouth River canoe trip from Dawson Trail Crossing to Medika, 32.3 miles, with over eighty scouts and twenty leaders, using about fifty canoes. The trip traverses rapids and portages near Hadashville and Seven Sisters, with camps at Dawson Trail, Hadashville, and Medika.
