The 1st Pinawa Brownie Pack led by Brown Owl G. Cameron held a hike and picnic on July 8. Swimming lessons began July 6 for a six week term with many children enrolled. Visiting Halifax relatives stayed with Mr. and Mrs. C. Luxton while Mr. and Mrs. W. Schwartz celebrated a car purchase. Regular car maintenance urges cleaning and oiling the air cleaner to preserve mileage.
After a close encounter with a deer, the team comes back this week. Players and coaching staff report no serious injuries and plan to resume practices as soon as travel and safety checks permit.
Pinawa lost to Beausejour on July 7 but defeated the Hungry Nine 6 to 4 on July 9 at home. Local supporters filled the stands as the team hosted games. Canadian General Electric held an Open House July 1 at the A.E.C.1 plant site with tours of Manitoba’s first reactor. A family from Unionville Ontario, the Sander sons, joined residents living in Lee River for the summer.
